Des Moines fire crews had a busy Tuesday morning when two fires sparked within minutes of each other.

The first damaged the Asian Mart on Army Post Road.

Firefighters were called there around 4 a.m. Officials say nobody was hurt, and the building was damaged but can be repaired.

While they battled that fire, other crews were dispatched to a home on East Ovid Avenue, just north of Hoyt Middle School on the east side.

Firefighters say a woman woke up to flames in her bedroom. Everyone else was able to get out safely, but a dog died in the fire.
